Session Overview
The party ascended the slippery stone staircase to Skyhorn Lighthouse, finding the gate broken and door barricaded. After forcing entry, they encountered six eel folk hunters engaged in heated debate within a room littered with smashed barrels and nautilus shell tapestries. A chaotic battle ensued where Fionn summoned eight giant badgers to overwhelm the opposition. Just as the last enemy fell, another eel folk appeared from an interior door, revealing more enemies within the lighthouse and setting up a potential confrontation with reinforcements.
Fionn’s Journal Entry
[Written during short rest on stairs, water-stained pages]
Fell. Lumina fell too—armor heavier than my clumsiness. Tiffany walked up like the rocks knew her name. Always graceful, that one.
[Rough sketch of broken gate: “Recent damage”]
Door barricaded from inside. Lumina’s solution: axe. Direct. Like when a beaver just… no, focus. Six eel-folk inside. Serpent heads. Arguing in clicks and hisses. Tried gesturing peace—hands up, like I do with startled deer.
They grabbed spears.
[Shakier writing, later]
Went bear. Ribs still hurt from yesterday’s water-thing. Violence chose itself, I suppose. Lumina’s sleep-spell took one down. The rest stabbed her. I should’ve positioned better. Bad at thinking during… anyway.
Summoned eight badgers. Fey-touched spirits, blue like Phylo and the others from the pie shop. Numbered bellies so I could track them. Felt right, having the mushroom-colors here again. Small comfort.
[Simple sketch of badger with “3” on belly]
The sounds. Not like forest hunting. Enclosed stone makes everything louder. Three badgers gone when the eel-folk… they explode? Electric death. Caught both Lumina and me in the blast. Note: summoning eight of anything means eight chances for complications. Should remember that. Probably won’t.
Healed Lumina best I could. Her trying to intimidate the last one—offering Draconic lessons while covered in blood—very her. Then another eel-folk appeared at the door. Screeched. More screeched back from deeper in.
[Smudged sketch of nautilus shell: “Symbol everywhere—means something”]
Corvin’s rosemary still in my pocket. Survived water, survived eels, survived my graceless stair-falling. Maybe good luck, maybe just sturdy rosemary.
Still no ship. No boy. No package. Just eel-folk and their shell symbols and more coming.
The forest teaches: sometimes peaceful paths close. Sometimes you wade through blood. Not poetry—just… what it is.
[Final note: “We go forward. Only way out is through.“]
